Hulu has a new comedy that’s already become a streaming juggernaut. Just two days after its release, Hulu’s newest, seven-episode, R-rated comedy series is their Number 1 show in the entire world. Hulu has been the home to many original series across a wide array of genres, including a whole host of critically acclaimed and award-winning comedies. This includes the ongoing Only Murders in the Building starring Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez, as well as The Bear, which has a healthy mix of both comedy and drama.
But one sitcom has taken the platform by storm, becoming its most popular in the world after just two days: Not Suitable for Work. Created by Mindy Kaling, the workplace comedy follows a group of five friends in their early 20s obsessed with their jobs trying to find success while living in the same neighborhood of Manhattan. The show stars Ella Hunt, Avantika Vandanapu, Will Angus, Jack Martin, Nicholas Duvernay, and Jay Ellis, alongside a whole host of recurring stars like Victor Garber and Constance Wu. The first three episodes premiered on June 2, 2026. Now, it’s been reported that Not Suitable for Work is the Number 1 TV show on Hulu worldwide. This revelation comes just two days after the series’ premiere, with the series topping global charts in the process. According to Hulu listings in the US for June 4, 2026, the show has managed to surpass a number of other, popular Hulu originals, including The Testaments. The series has managed to capture a large audience in a short amount of time, making its premiere all the more impressive.

Based on its global success, it appears the show created by Kaling is faring better for audiences than it is for critics. Reviews for Not Suitable for Work have been mixed, with the series currently holding a 47% on Rotten Tomatoes based off 15 reviews. While critics praise the sharp writing and familiar sitcom setup, they’re also critical of how accurately the series portrays its young protagonists, who don’t feel authentic in their portrayals. This includes flagrant use of Internet speak and character approaches that don’t feel unique when compared to some of the best sitcoms already out. Even so, the new sitcom has managed to capture audiences based on just the first three episodes, a stunning feat that makes it a clear success for Hulu that could very well be long term. The show will be nine episodes in total, with two new episodes scheduled to be released every week until the two-part season finale on June 23, 2026. This means Not Suitable for Work could dominate the platform for quite some time, especially if it can retain this level of success week-to-week.
Although it’s unclear just how much Not Suitable for Work will be able to retain its success as the show continues to air, the fact that it’s already Hulu’s Number 1 show in the world proves that it can hang on. Its first two days have already been strong, meaning the show can continue this strength in the weeks ahead for its new episodes.
