Solo Leveling’s New Movie Teaser Is the Perfect Live-Action Blueprint

It’s been close to two years since Season 2of Solo Leveling aired, and at long last, the series has finally confirmed its return. Although the wait has been long and tiresome, Solo Leveling is making up for it with plans for an epic comeback, and with a theatrical release no less. As revealed at Anime Expo 2026, Solo Leveling is returning with a movie for its next installment, titled Solo Leveling: Beyond the System. Rumors about a Solo Leveling movie have been circulating ever since November 2025, first mentioned in a report by Kiwoom Securities, and now the release has finally been confirmed. Unfortunately, an exact release date has yet to be officially announced, but recent reports by Solo Leveling’s publisher, D&C Media, place the release somewhere between 2027 and 2028. That said, the new animated movie isn’t the only big release the franchise potentially has planned for the coming years. Solo Leveling also has a live-action adaptation by Netflix on the way, and the new concept trailer for the animated movie just gave fans their first glimpse at what Solo Leveling could look like in live-action.
Solo Leveling Gives Fans An Indirect Tease Of The Live-Action Series
The announcement of Solo Leveling: Beyond the System was also accompanied by a concept trailer featuring a blend of real-life footage, traditional animation, and CGI to tease the upcoming Return to the Double Dungeon Arc. The concept trailer surprisingly blends these three visual elements to form quite a cohesive final result.
Furthermore, even for such a short teaser, the CGI in the trailer, in particular, is quite well executed. The dungeon gates and the system windows surprisingly fit right in with the live-action backgrounds while still maintaining that vague sense of the fantastical, and this might just be the closest thing fans can get to a glimpse of the live-action series for now.

A thrilling new chapter unfolds for Solo Leveling fans this upcoming December 2026 as the franchise sets to release its most ambitious project yet.
One of the biggest concerns about the Netflix live-action Solo Leveling has been the CGI and whether Solo Leveling’s fantastical story would translate well into live-action. However, judging by this movie trailer, it seems like there may be no reason to worry. If anything, the live-action adaptation will likely look even better than the movie’s concept trailer.
Solo Leveling’s Live-Action Could Actually Be… Good?
From the new concept trailer for Beyond the System, it’s undeniable that Solo Leveling looks amazing in live-action, and while there have understandably been concerns about the adaptation for a multitude of reasons, so far, it looks like the live-action could actually end up being good.
Despite recent criticisms of Byeon Woo-seok in Perfect Crown, his previous roles in Lovely Runner, Strong Girl Nam-soon, and 20th Century Girl have utterly captivated viewers. There is no doubt that he is a very talented actor and perfectly cast for the role of Jinwoo. And as far as the visuals go, the One Piece live-action has pretty much proved that anything is possible with the combination of CGI and practical effects. Meanwhile, K-dramas like Alchemy of Souls and Gyeongseong Creature have proved that Korean productions are capable of using VFX to produce shows with some of the most beautiful cinematography. Even ten years later, shows like Goblin still hold up for being able to bring the fantastical into the modern world and look gorgeous while doing it, and there’s no reason why Solo Leveling’s live-action can’t do the same.
