Margo’s Got Money Troubles Season 2 Return Timeline Gets Exciting New Update From Apple TV Exec

Margo’s Got Money Troubles season 2 just got an exciting new update. Apple TV’s head of programming, Matt Cherniss, has provided an update on season 2 of the show, discussing the return timeline for the comedy-drama. The series follows Elle Fanning as Margo Millet, who starts an OnlyFans page to make extra money after she gets pregnant while attending community college. The show also focuses on her Hooters waitress mother, Shyanne (Michelle Pfeiffer), and her estranged father and former professional wrestler, Jinx (Nick Offerman). Margo’s Got Money Troubles reviews have been stellar, with the show quickly scoring a season 2 renewal.

Speaking with Variety following the show’s multiple Emmy nominations, Cherniss revealed that development of season 2 is already underway. While the Apple TV executive didn’t give an exact timeline for when the show will come back, he explained that the writer’s room is open and in the middle of getting the story together for season 2. In addition, Cherniss also stated that the scope for the show is expected to grow larger with every new season, hinting that, if the series continues to be successful, it has a long future ahead on the platform. Check out what Cherniss had to say below:
Working with (series creator) David E. Kelley is so much fun. As a fan of his work, it’s just such a pleasure. And the whole team, Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer. It is such a great cast. Not easy for shows to get acknowledged in their first season. I think we did a pretty good job of that, but that show in particular has such a great spirit to it. David’s in the room right now, and the whole team is cracking Season 2. It definitely takes on more scope as the as the seasons go on. I think the audience will be really excited about that.
As of writing, Margo’s Got Money Troubles holds a Certified Fresh 96% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes based on 72 reviews. It also earned eight total nominations for the 2026 Emmy Awards, including Lead Actress in a Comedy Series (Elle Fanning), Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series (Michelle Pfeiffer), Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series (Nick Offerman), and Outstanding Comedy Series. Margo’s Got Money Troubles season 2 already seems like it’ll be bigger than season 1, while maintaining the elements of the show that have made it work thus far.

Jinx, Margo, and Shyanne in Margo’s Got Money Troubles

While series creator David E. Kelley is best known for legal dramas, including Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer and Apple TV’s Presumed Innocent, the comedy-drama about a young woman trying to make ends meet with OnlyFans has resonated thanks to its quirky characters and humor focus. Based on what Cherniss said, the show may have a strong future ahead of it, bolstered by just how well the series had been received up to this point. However, what comes next for Margo and her family remains to be seen.

Margo’s Got Money Troubles’ characters are its core, and it seems this will continue going into season 2. The show has earned plenty of praise thanks to its core performances, while also telling a compelling story. The OnlyFans creator element is but one part of the show, which centers around an eccentric family finding belonging with one another, despite also having plenty of friction in between. It’s helped the show maintain success and earn the Emmys its nominated for. With season 2 in active development, more news about Margo’s Got Money Troubles seems inevitable over the coming months. As her relationship with her family shifts and her career on OnlyFans begins to get more traction, it appears Margo will be embracing a very different world going into season 2. What that will entail remains to be seen, but based on Cherniss’ statement, it’s a promising continuation.
