The Best Fight In Black Clover Anime History Is Now Only 4 Months Away

Warning: Spoilers Ahead for Black Clover Season 2! Yuki Tabata created a real Shonen Jump winner with the introduction of Black Clover in 2015, channeling true underdog energy into its protagonist, Asta. Born unloved by magic in a world utterly run by it, Asta grew up as a peasant and orphan raised in Hage, struggling to keep up with his friend and rival, Yuno, whose grasp on magic was utterly prodigious, until he received his Five-Leaf Clover Grimoire, bestowing Anti-Magic.This helped pivot Asta’s disadvantage into allowing his raw strength to shine instead, getting up close and personal with opponents as a Magic Knight for the Black Bulls. But in Black Clover’s big season 2 return, the true underdog of the series gets his best moment. Asta’s Union ability was in cooldown, with multiple fights against the Spade Kingdom and the Dark Triad thus having to do without him for 30 minutes. Magna Swing, a peasant but with the sheer audacity not to have utterly broken Anti-Magic at his disposal, suddenly faced the herculean task of fighting Dante Zogratis, possibly the strongest of the Spade Kingdom’s Dark Triad even Asta and Yami had difficulty beating. But Magna, ready to unveil his new magic, wants to solo Dante, who believes the Black Bull’s magic is too weak. Dante is right, and that’s his downfall.
Black Clover’s Anime Return Will Feature The Best Fight In The Series
Magna vs. Dante encapsulates many of the heavy-handed themes Black Clover has addressed, all rolled up into the perfect one-on-one brawl following the similarly excellent paneling of Dante’s fight with Jack the Ripper. Dante tries time and again to talk down to the peasant-born Black Bull, even lowering his guard to allow who he believed to be a nobody, a bad move in such an underdog-driven series.

The landscape of anime and manga fandom has utterly changed in the post-pandemic years, so here’s what you should check out next!
Doing so allowed Magna to launch one of his Exploding Fireball spells into him, a seemingly pointless gesture concealing his secret weapon: the magic he honed with Zora for six months, Secret Flame Magic: Soul Chain Death Match. This would link the two by a chain bearing their souls, pooling and balancing their magic perfectly, locking them in a solo face-off, with Jack the Ripper and Zora soon to be joined by Asta and Luck with front-row seats to the absolute clobbering that soon follows.
Magna: “Uh… Mister Yami? Why did…why did you…let me join your brigade?”
Yami: “Hmmmmm… Maybe because it looked like we’d have common interests.”
Magna: “… I see…”
Yami: “Also…because you looked like the gutsiest one out there.”
This fight works so well because Dante is given every advantage imaginable, born to privilege and hosting the devil Lucifero, enabling vast magic reserves he’s never had to exhaust, and even regenerative healing. Magna’s new magic only works against stronger opponents, the ultimate expression of an underdog daring to bring a royal like Dante to his level. It means they’re both equally powerful, but also that Magna can tank Dante’s magic, and vice-versa, with one victor only emerging once their magic is exhausted. The only true way either can emerge from the fight is a deadly fistfight, and as anybody can guess, including Yami, Magna’s prepared to tough that one out.
Magna after beating Dante in Black Clover chapter #293
Asta’s Anti-Magic and tenacious spirit are the poster-child for Black Clover’s underdog spirit, by allowing him to challenge the system with which society is so comfortable, and breaking through all logical advantages of the magic-users in front of him. Magna has no such advantage, instead embodying the themes of Black Clover such as overcoming the class disparity between himself and Dante, working incredibly hard to keep up with his peers, and breaking his opponent down with sheer grit. One can practically hear the cheers from viewers around the world the moment this fight concludes, as part of an overall incredible arc.
The Spade Kingdom Raid Will Be Peak Black Clover, Perfect For Its Return
While the sudden conclusion of the original weekly anime in 2021 felt almost cruel with its timing, this decision was ultimately for the best. Studio Pierrot’s production model was soon changing vastly for the better, with Black Clover soon to become the latest beneficiary of its seasonal-focused approach, prioritizing polish over airing in perpetuity. It’s just in time, too, as multiple noteworthy, scene-stealing fights are about to occur, with multiple likely picks for fan-favorite clashes coming up. These include battles featuring multiple Magic Knights against the power of Vanica and Megicula, the Black Bulls and Mereoleona Vermillion against Moris Libardirt, and more.
I…will never lose…when it comes to guts!
Each of these fights are going to be seven shades of incredible, no doubt, with one of the battles featuring likely the most visually epic Demon-Slayer Sword: Black Divider attacks ever animated, big enough to cleave the skies themselves. What Magna vs. Dante has going for itself, beyond the thematic perfection at play, is that it’s already so clearly choreographed as an uncompromising fist-fight with neither party able to yield, lest they pull on their chain too hard and risk going insane. Animation-wise, it’s got every reason to be spectacular as one of the biggest highlights coming up for Black Clover season 2.
