GTA 5 Free Download Officially Available To Claim Until July 1

The upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto VI is just about as big as any game in history, and with all of that excitement, it would be very easy to forget that the last game in the series is still going strong after well over a decade. Though we’re upsettingly light on single-player DLC to this day, the multiplayer elements have been remarkably well serviced by Rockstar. Whether it’s via monthly events or specific celebrations to mark real world occasions in the calendar, there’s always something chaotic going on if you’re looking for something to do at the weekend. If you are planning to do so, there are usually rewards available for very little effort, and there’s one in particular that you could easily miss if you don’t know where to look.

Over on Twitter/X, the user Tex2 shared a post detailing a free cosmetic that’s available to those via the official Rockstar Games Discord. Specifically, the Burgundy Rockstar Varsity Crewneck is available to download for your character, and you only need to follow a few simple steps to claim it. The full instructions for securing the item for your account are as follows:

Link your Discord and Rockstar Games accounts.

Head to the #discord-rewards channel, type in the /claim command and then choose reward>Rockstar Crewneck from the options menu.

Head into GTA Online and you should find the item in your account within 72 hours. It can be found in Tops>Special Tops>Unlocks.

The Community Missions Series is also currently live on GTA Online servers, with a bonus of GTA$500,000 bonus each week for completing all the featured Community Missions. Though you have now missed the first week, the event runs until June 17, so you can still pick up a cool half mill if you act quickly. That event also includes double rewards for Street Dealers and Meth Sales, as well as an additional GTA$100,000 if you manage to smash and grab your way through two Stash Houses.

It’s nice that the developer has managed to maintain the Online portion of the game for so long, particularly given how long we have now had to wait for the next game in the GTA series. We’re less than six months out from the big day now though, when we can finally see exactly what Rockstar has been cooking up. Let’s hope it doesn’t disappoint, or the community reaction really could be beyond anything we have ever seen before.
