Aperol, Hugo, Sarti—Your Signature Summer Scent, Based on Your Go-To Spritz

Spritzes are not only the drink of the summer—they’re literally a lifestyle. The second you take a sip, they invoke a luxurious, free-spirited energy that encapsulates summer to a T. But like all responsible adults, I don’t indulge in a spritz every day. They’re reserved for patio nights or beach days, but that doesn’t mean I don’t constantly crave the energy they exude—minus the actual alcohol. Luckily, a new fragrance trend on social media trend lets you have a spritz summer every day, and there’s no hangover if you accidentally overindulge. Let me introduce you to the magic of spritz-inspired perfumes.

Spritz scents are perfumes with notes found in your go-to summer spritz. Whether you order an Aperol spritz, a Hugo spritz or are more of a Limoncello lover, here are the spritz perfumes you should try to perfect your summer vibe.

If you haven’t heard yet, it’s a Sarti Spritz summer. I mean, a drink with the color of a Cosmo and the refreshing taste of a spritz? What’s not to love? Made with sparkling wine and Sarti Rosa—a liqueur bursting with blood orange and passion fruit notes that just landed stateside—these cocktail-inspired perfumes are destined to become a favorite among fruity fragrance lovers. Every spritz (and every sip) will transport you straight to the Sicilian coast.

If you love an Aperol Spritz

I don’t think I need to break down what’s in an Aperol spritz because, at this point, they’re a summer staple. They’re the perfect combination of bitter and sweet, with that signature “you either love it or hate it” Aperol flavor. In a perfume, that translates to a bright, punchy scent that’s warm and refreshing, often with notes of Aperol or bitter orange. In my personal opinion, it should always be worn alongside a crisp white linen set and, of course, an ice-cold Aperol spritz.

If you love a Hugo Spritz

If the bitterness of an Aperol spritz doesn’t do it for you, chances are you’ve headed to the sweet side and made ordering a Hugo spritz at every bar this summer your new personality trait (same). Like all spritzes, they have the light, sparkling quality we all love, but instead of Aperol, Hugo spritzes use elderflower liqueur, topped off with prosecco, soda water, and mint. The result is a sweet, delicious cocktail that’s perfect for cooling off on a hot day. A Hugo spritz fragrance nails the drink’s light bubbliness with a touch of floral, citrus, or mint notes.

If you love a Limoncello Spritz

Limoncello spritzes take the sweetness up a notch a level higher than a Hugo spritz. Of course, the lemony tang brings freshness to the drink, but there’s a sugary sweetness you’ll recognize immediately if you’ve ever sipped a shot of Limoncello. Still, like all spritzes, they feel chic and sophisticated. I mean, how can they not when one sip immediately transports you to the Amalfi Coast? Spritzing on a Limoncello-inspired fragrance delivers a light, airy lemon scent rounded out by just the right amount of sugar.

If you love a Campari Spritz

Campari spritzes are like the Aperol spritz’s older, stronger sister. They have a similar bitter flavor, but it’s dialed up a notch. It’s bolder and more grounded than other spritzes, and are definitely an acquired taste. The same goes for the scent equivalent: These are the kinds of fragrances that aren’t necessarily mass-appealing, but the people who love them really love them. If you’re obsessed with the drink, you won’t be able to get enough of these perfumes, either.

If you love a Lillet Spritz

If I hear anyone order a Lillet spritz, I immediately know they’re the coolest girl in the world. Not in a “trying the trending TikTok drink even though I can’t stand martinis” way—in an effortlessly cool, always-has-an-under-the-radar-signature-drink kind of way. Lillet spritz drinkers need a perfume that delivers that same easygoing quality while paying homage to the ingredients: Lillet Blanc (or Rosé), sparkling wine, and a grapefruit or cucumber garnish.

If you love an Italicus Spritz

The Italicus spritz may be the most underrated of the spritzes. It tends to get outshone by the Aperols and Hugos of the world, but trust me, it can keep up. It has a zesty, citrusy flavor with notes of bergamot and florals, along with a slightly green, grassy finish. I’d say it’s the clean girl of the spritz lineup, and the corresponding fragrance definitely smells like you’ve just showered after a long day in the sun at the beach.

If you love a Strawberry Spritz

Summer is strawberry season, so you’re sure to see strawberry spritzes popping up on happy-hour menus everywhere. They have the juicy, sweet strawberry flavor we all know and love, balanced with sparkling wine and tonic water. Like the cocktail, the perfect Strawberry spritz scent has strawberry at the heart, but it isn’t all syrupy sweetness. It’s a more mature, grown-up version of the strawberry shortcake-esque scents we loved in childhood.
